Subject :Electronic Remittances (ERNs) for Medicaid, Blue cross and Commercial Insurance plans
DMEFree Simpleclaims Newsletter May 19, 2010 Now available Electronic Remittances (ERNs) for Medicaid, Blue cross and Commercial Insurance plans through DMEFree Clearinghouse To compliment our expanded list of payers we are now able to offer electronic remittances for many plans. Q&A What is an Electronic Remittance? An Electronic remittance notice (ERN or ERA) is a way to obtain electronic payment and denial data from an insurance plan or payer. Traditionally you have been getting a check and a paper explanation of benefit (EOB) through 'snail mail'. ERNs offers you the ability to know what's been paid and what to fix and resubmit in days not weeks. That means increased cash flow. Why is it important to get an electronic remittance? 1. ERNs can provide payment and rejection data in under 10 days. That is weeks before finding out via a paper EOB. 2. DMEFree clearinghouse provides the ERN two ways , in a printable format and as a data file. 3. The data file can be used in DMEFreePlus (RxDME2000) for auto reconcile and can be used with the CMS Easy print program for tracking as well. Is there any cost to obtain ERNs? No charge, but. Erns are free to users that bill claims through our clearinghouse. Erns are not free for users sending claims via other methods (example if you use Medicare free program or medicaids web billing, we will bill you for your ERNs) I know you bill Medicare claims for me , what other plans can I bill through DMEFree Clearinghouse? Click here for State and Blue cross plans Click here for commercial plans and Medicare Advantage plans Why should I bill these 'other' plans through the clearinghouse? Our opinion is that it is less expensive to bill through one software system. Our DMEFree Management system. Why spend extra labor putting the claim info in DMEFree software and into your free web Medicaid or Bluecross system? For just the cost of the claim you will have your data in your favorite management software and get the ERN at no charge (when available) ! What plans offer ERNs?
