Medicare & DMEFree Clearinghouse Deadlines Please read the following email segment that came from Medicare today..... ""Due to the change in the timely filing limits for Medicare fee-for-service claims, if you need a claim receipt date prior to January 1, 2011, you must have your claims submitted to Common Electronic Data Interchange (CEDI) no later than 3:00 p.m. eastern time (ET) on Thursday, December 30, 2010. Because Friday, December 31, 2010 is a holiday for CEDI and the durable medical equipment Medicare administrative contractors (DME MACs), electronic submitters must know the following: Claims submitted to CEDI before 3:00 p.m. ET on December 30, 2010 will receive a date of receipt of December 30, 2010.Claims submitted to CEDI after 3:00 p.m. ET on December 30, 2010 and before 5:00 p.m. (ET) on January 3, 2011 will receive a date of receipt of January 3, 2011.""
In order to have your claims submitted by 3 pm Thursday December 30th, 2010 to CEDI (Medicare) you must have your claims at our DMEFree clearinghouse no later than 8 am eastern time Thursday December 30th, 2010. Note: we would recommend sending them by Wednesday December 29th before 5pm in case you need our staff to verify receipt of the claims
2. Backups - you must do backups regularly or risk loss of important data. If you don't do backups the thought of losing 6 months or more of patient and claim data would be unbearable. You must do backups as computers fail. We offer two backup methods to our clients a. Built in Free backup to a USB drive, external hard drive or diskette (obsolete) This method works fine to backup data only ,, however this backup cannot be scheduled ie it's not automatic, you must start it manually. If you have an external hard drive (if not get one at Walmart, Staples etc) we would be happy to help you setup a scheduled automatic backup to the external drive using one of free backup tools available. b. Online Cloud Backup Service - is set it and forget it offsite protection for your DME files as well as any other data files you wish to backup. We will set it up , work with you to pick the backup files and create schedules for automatic backup. Our support staff monitors your backups daily and will contact you in the event the backups haven't run in several days. Price: Plan 1=$4.00 a month + 30.00 annual support fee (4gb) or Plan 2=$5.95 a month + $.75 per gb. Simple , done. 3.
